What started in 1850 as a three-day event is now a 12-day fair that's filled with decadent food, epic concerts, unique competitions, and more!

Today, the Ohio State Fair is the largest state fair in the country, attracting over 980,000 people each year. This year, the fair runs from July 24th to August 4th and features big name acts like Toby Keith, Hank Williams Jr, Bad Company, and comedian Gabriel Iglesias.

Other attractions include an aerial and acrobat show, parade, dog show, beauty pageant, and much more. Fuel your visit by stopping in at any of the 200 food vendors, and be sure to check out the brilliant selection of household items and personal accessories from nearly 300 commercial exhibitors located throughout the fair grounds.

Parents with little ones will enjoy Meijer Kiddieland, while those wanting to get their adrenaline pumping should not miss the SkyGlider. Slither down the 144-foot long slide, relax and take in the sites on the massive Ferris wheel, or see the city from above on a helicopter ride.

General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and children ages 6-12. Children 5 and under get into the fair for free. If you plan on exploring any of the exhilarating rides, wristbands are required at an additional cost. Camp on-site to ensure you don't miss any of the action, or stay at one of the hotels on the Preferred Hotel Partners of the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair list for special rates and facility access.

All of the action takes place at the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds in Columbus, which is about an hour from Siena Village Senior LivingMallard Landing and Sandhurst Apartments. Wherever you're coming from, be sure to plan your visit so you can maximize the fun at this year's fair.
