Want a new look for your apartment? Consider using mirrors!
Mirrors not only look good up on your walls, but are also a great way to make a room look bigger. They add warmth and coziness into a space, reflect natural light, and give the eye a break from clutter. Here are a few ways to use mirrors to spruce up your apartment.
Use large framed mirrors
Instead of hanging art work, why not hang mirrors? Large framed mirrors are a classic way to open up any space. Choose from a simple thin frame, or a thick elaborate one, depending on the decor throughout the rest of the room. Hang one on the wall behind the sofa, above a dresser, or in an entry way. You can even place a large mirror on the floor and lean it against a wall. Check out Wayfair for some ideas and pricing options.
Make a gallery
Mirrors come in all shapes and sizes. A great way to use them to decorate your apartment is by arranging them into a wall gallery. Buy small mirrors and organize them in a salon-style way, making your living room look elegant. A design like this can also help the room appear double the size! Target has a good selection of decorative wall mirrors that will do the trick.
Cover a wall
Covering a full or large section of a wall with mirrors is a great way to make a room look larger, and can be created with almost no damage to the wall! Buy square mirrors that adhere to the wall, like these examples offered at IKEA. For something more creative, choose a mural of mirrors like this one from CB2 that are angled in different ways, creating a work of art made out of mirrors.
Use a multi-paneled mirror to create the illusion of a window. Our newer communities, like Residences at Ag47, let in lots of natural light, but a multi-paneled mirror window really helps to refract light strategically around the room, which gives your apartment a bright and inviting feel. Ballard Design's 3-Piece Grand Palais Mirror is a great example, as is the Montclair Leaner Mirror from Z Gallerie.
