Place Your Bets!

Enjoy the Kentucky Derby from the comfort of your hometown.

Although the most esteemed annual horse race takes place in Louisville, you won't have to leave Lexington to enjoy the famous Kentucky Derby! In fact, there is a venue nearby our WaterStone at Hamburg and Hamburg Senior Residence communities, where you can enjoy the legacy of the races long after the main event has finished! All of the magic happens right in Lexington; the Bluegrass City.

Lexington has been the prime location for breeding, training, and officially registering top racehorses for decades. As a result, it takes the derby race events very seriously... in the way of fun! On derby day, head over to the Keeneland Race Course and enjoy its Derby and Oaks at Keeneland event. There are over 1,000 screens showing the Run for the Roses, as well as easy access to wagering, including a betting 'drive through'. Plus, you can bring a blanket and have a picnic right on the grandstand, please your taste buds with fantastic food, and enjoy live music!

Don't forget to enter the Derby Hat Contest and show off the elaborate hat that you purchased at one of our local shops like Kentucky Derby Hats or the Mad Hatter Hat Shop.

If you're looking to enjoy a more low-key event, choose to have Derby Day Breakfast at the beautiful Waveland State Historic Site, complete with cheese grits, vanilla bean scones, bourbon mint brownies, and derby pie tarts. If you're looking to celebrate in style - get dressed to-the-nines and purchase tickets to attend The Legacy Ball at Commonwealth Stadium, Woodford Reserve Club. Here you will enjoy fine cocktails, fine cuisine and live music, which will feature contemporary jazz violinist Maestro J. Plus, it is all for a good cause with proceeds benefiting local charities and scholarships for students interested in equine education!
