Put on your favorite sweater, grab a pumpkin spice treat, and get out to enjoy the cooler weather.
Fall is upon us! If you live in or around Indianapolis, check out these fun-filled things to do this season.
For the past 72 years, the Historic Irvington Halloween Festival has been spooking Indianapolis residents and visitors with ghost tours, haunted puppet shows, Halloween-themed movies, and scary storytelling. The festival runs from October 19th to 26th in the Irvington Historic District, just a 30 minute drive from Honey Creek. Dress your best and head to the charity ball, participate in the annual 5 mile run, or bring the kids to the slightly haunted puppet show.
Ride the Nickel Plate Train
Take a historic train ride through Hamilton County, less than an hour north of Indianapolis. The 1950s Nickel Plate Train runs from Atlanta through the Indiana countryside, to Arcadia and Cicero. This October, catch the Pumpkin Express on any given weekend, and make a stop at the Hamilton Heights FFA pumpkin patch. Here, you can pick your own pumpkin, find your way through a hay maze, or tackle an obstacle course. Mill Pond residents are just 45 minutes away from all the fun.
Listen to Cover Songs
Enjoy the crisp autumn weather while listening to the music of the Ramones, Beastie Boys, Diana Ross, Radiohead, and Bob Marley being played by local bands. Indiana musicians will perform live at the Tonic Ball, a celebration of music to raise money for Second Helpings. This outdoor concert series is a fun way to give back to the community, singing along to your favorite hits by these big stars and more. It all happens on November 22, 2019 at different venues throughout Indianapolis.
