The Charlotte suburb of McAdenville is known as Christmas Town USA.

Anyone that lives at River Crossing or The Landings at Steele Creek knows just how magical it is to experience Christmas in this small town. Be a part of the magic and head to this traditional town to see it all lit up at Christmas time.

Since 1956, the entire town has been completely decorated with lights during the holidays, attracting over 600,000 visitors from all over the country each year. In total, there are 375 trees and 200 wreaths to view throughout the town. It truly is like something out of a fairy tale, and something that no Charlotte resident should miss.

The actual lighting ceremony is at the very start of December, with other events following, including the Yule Log Parade on December 13th. Every night the town is open to the public to take in the incredible lights, which can be viewed during the hourss of 5:30pm – 9:30pm. There's no charge to enter, and the first 1,000 visitors to arrive each night receive free hot chocolate!

Be sure not to miss the chance to stroll around the lake that is encircled by 38 spruce trees, whose lights reflect in the water. There are also 160 homes throughout the town that are beautifully lit to celebrate the festive season. This has to be the best place in the country to experience Christmas and certainly is the best place in North Carolina to see shimmering Christmas lights, and to get you in the holiday spirit.

Jump in your car and drive 15 miles west of Charlotte to experience Christmas in Christmas Town USA. Once there, it's a slow 30 to 45 minute drive on a 2 mile tour to see all of the magic. Be sure to turn your car lights off, and don't forget your camera.
