As the "Paris of America", Cincinnati is known for its beautiful architecture, eclectic culture, and unique neighborhoods.

It's a city for foodies, night owls, and shopaholics! There are numerous well-known chains in the city, but for something that is quintessentially Cincinnati, go local.

Here are some of the top places to eat, drink, and shop in Cincinnati.

Camp Washington Chili

Cincinnati is famous for its chili, which is based on a Greek recipe and contains no beans or onions. Their unique spin on this dish includes finely-ground meat with cinnamon and/or cocoa powder, and is served over spaghetti. There are more chili restaurants per capita in Cincinnati than anywhere else in the country, with Camp Washington Chili being a city landmark. They serve up chili with cheese, beans and cheese, and even chili with hot dogs. If those dishes don't grab you, opt for the chili cheese sandwich, or chili cheese fries. Camp Washington Chili is located on Colerain Avenue, which is just 10 minutes away from our Alexandra 55+ apartments.

Clifton Heights Tavern

With over 50 beers to choose from and some of the most personable bartenders in the city, it's no wonder Clifton Heights Tavern is fast becoming a household name in Cincinnati. Their menu consists of local craft beers, international beers, and domestic drafts, as well as some pretty amazing shots. If beer is not your thing, they also have a great selection of ciders. The bar is located on West McMillan Street in Uptown Cincinnati.

Hyde Park Square

This is one of the hippest shopping meccas in the city, home to a plethora of one-of-a-kind shops that are locally owned. Browse for clothing, gifts, and home décor, or take a walk through one of the square's many art galleries. You can easily spend an entire day here, wandering around this 2-block area that is lined with unique businesses like Ossie Boutique, 45/46 Fine Men's Apparel, Newstedt-Loring Andrews, and Cockerill Gallery.
